How to go on vacation without children

Anyways, I think it might be detrimental for a child to be taken out of school to go on holiday, as that would teach the child that school is not important.

Or maybe teach them that family time is important.

I just want to share that in some countries it's very strict, that one is not allowed to take their kids out of school. I read about a case, where a family wanted to travel for a few days, because of a terminally ill family member in a different country - and still, their request was denied. 

E.g. in Switzerland, a family left for vacation a day prior to the school holidays and got fined 4,000 Swiss Francs (Article in German: http://blog.tagesanzeiger.ch/mamablog/index.php/19523/4000-franken-busse-fur-einen-tag-schwanzen/ )

From my perspective, the product is conforming to the social pressure and giving kids a social circle (to in turn pressure them...).  The price is the poor education.

So I'm actually getting the same product for less price.

cmiiw, you don't have kids in school yet. Also, is there something I should know about? I was pretty happy this year but that was only first grade

Do you need to get permission from a court if the kid wakes up not feeling well ?

Europe is different. You need permission from the court to keep a sick child alive.

If that is your perspective then the school doesn't have to sell you either. It turns in to an economic question of a buyer and seller's market. Who needs it more you the school or the school you.

Though there is a different way of looking at a school that may result in you having to listen to their rules even you don't agree.

they are there to be educated because we dont have time to educate them.
However, when you can take them on a trip where they will (probably) learn more than in school, it is the right decision.

If they will learn more ona vacation to Florida than in school you may want to look into a new school. If you are referring to the happiness they can get from the sense of family that can be timed to avoid missing school.
