Security Cameras DVR/NVR Master Thread
« on: July 17, 2017, 11:20:58 AM »
I have a Lorex LH138000 at a place with no network, looking to be able to view from exiting PC without a router/lan is that possible?

If not i guess other options are:
-A HDMI/DVI switcher etc. plugging in the monitor to both pc and dvr and switching as necessary
-Setup a cheap router with a LAN without internet and connect PC and DVR to router

Palestinians ≠ Hamas
Satmar ≠ SatmarHQ

I would just build my own DVR system:  http://www.zoneminder.com

Why can you run a direct patch cable from NVR lan port to computers lan port?

Considering buying this camera. What would be the difference between 2.8mm and 4mm?  Also, are people happy with this? Are there better outdoor cameras out there?

2.8 gives you a wider FOV (Field of View) than a 4 mm. So it depends on your needs if you'd rather get more space covered or rather a clearer shot of a more zoomed area.

If I wanted cameras for 10-15 indoor workstations what type of system should I look into?

It would need to have a clear enough picture to read from a computer screen from roughly 10 feet away ( is that even possible?) and a wide field of vision.

I don't need storage for long, I'd say two days worth of recordings should be fine. It's just for looking back if a mistake is made to see what happened.

It can be a local system without remote viewing over the internet.

Preferably I wouldn't want to have to run wires I'd rather have it connect directly to the computers at the workstations and then somehow have it connected. (I think although I'm not certain that the computers are connected to each other somehow over a local intranet or something)

Or maybe if it's possible to have a dedicated router used to wirelessly connect all the cameras without it affecting the internet of the place.

Idk I'm just throwing out thoughts here. Any ideas would be appreciated.

A screen recorder won't help in this situation

Why not monitor the workstations directly?

I can't be in 15 places at once. And a screen recorder software won't help completely in this particular situation
