So then, assuming your first app is approved and second auto-rejected and no pull done, how do you get BofA to process the application a 2nd and 3rd time? It's done over the phone (i.e. an application is placed over the phone a 2nd and 3rd time, diff calls)?

Yes, call, explain to them why you need it, they will manually reopen the app

No need to apply over the phone for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th cards. You apply online, then call recon.

Yup. I've gotten instant approval on multiple apps, multiple times.

Can I call recon for my wife? I usually do with other banks, however BoA is the only one who asks in the application for gender?

I don't think they demand anything, but you should be prepared with an answer.

how can I give a real answer besides getting the sign up bonus to why I want the same card 4 times unless the sign up bonus is a good enough answer

You want to have separate ones for different types of expenses so you can track them
