Why does Boa lie?

Here's what they chatted during an alaska card cancellation chat:

"Before I continue I recommend you redeem your point before I close any cards for you once there closed and the miles are not redeemed they will be forfeited."

Ime i left open personal and reapplied. Then closed later just so I wouldn't have too many.

Technically they are not lying because you will forfeit the points that have not yet been posted to your account

Technically they're not lying because AS will claw back the miles when you cancel the card

I thought it as only if you don't pay the AF, or have it refunded?

AS will make up any excuse they want.

Is that a trigger (canceling)? I have a waived fee card open for almost a year thinking of closing..
