How much time do one have to cancel in order to get AF back?

I really think that strategy is overrated.
If your max is 4 accounts at a time, and they gave you total $20K+ CL the last time round, they will give it to you the next time round.

It depends on the person. Someone who does not have a high overall CL will take a major hit to their score if they straight up cancel these cards.

I had 3 cards I downgraded from 2011, $5k line each to help with average age in the long run. Now, the new cards I apply for, I cancel after I get bonus.

To free up credit lines extended to me by BOA. I like auto-approvals and don't like having to call in have them see that I already have 10 accounts that I don't use with them. Truth be told, the whole average age of accounts thing really doesn't matter either since the age of closed accounts will still be factored in in the next 10 years anyway. So I guess mainly to get as many auto-approval as I can.

I may have just made this mistake I had 25k cl for 2 months and just cut it to 10k.
And just closed 8k with citi.

If you have a lot of credit from other banks, it shouldn't be too bad.

I have 2 alaska cards and I got my $100 back on each card and now have a (-$25) balance on each card (because of the $75 annual fee. If i cancel both cards I will get a check for $100 each card (since they will return AF within 60 days) and I will not lose my points?

Yes to all. They don't claw back bonuses and issue checks for negative balances
