mileage for South Africa trip

Any ideas about best way to amass enough miles (new credit cards etc.) for a trip to South Africa? And what airlines to focus on? Complete novice here. Thanks.

Delta flies there, and Northwest, AMEX MR and Starwood all transfer into Delta, so get a couple Northwest, Delta and Starwood cards and you'll be flying free in Business class!

Dan, what's the latest offers with cc's from NW and delta with the bonuses? also, do they do elite status with cc earnings? (that would be good to achieve bec. you can get both airlines!)
