That’s right. and even if there's no minivan in the aisle when he arrives, he could ask a rep. (which at most times there's 1 in the lot) if he can take a minivan, in most cases they’ll allow you. good luck!

Thank you all.  He's flying into NY- I can pick him up so we can get mini van from lga or jfk... So are you guys suggesting best to get midsized and then try to upgrade?

Sign up for emerald club free. With Amex platinum u get to use the executive sec. Almost guaranteed a mini van there. Once ur signed up I believe the full size price will the same as midsize. Even if it's a few $ more prob better to reserve a full size.

Looks like the minivan promo for $199/wk is only good thru June 19 but the mid sized suv for $169/wk might potentially work for you.

mid-size suv probably has 5 seats, not 7 like minivan
