How do I backup ALL I have in my Sprint HTC EVO 4G?
« on: September 14, 2011, 10:58:10 AM »
Phone had some issues, took it to the Sprint store, told me to return in an hour, tech dude comes out & tells me "I reset it"...you did what???"I did save your contacts before I reset it'...I am going to kill you mfer...no, I didn't say that but I really wanted to ;D

What a pain setting up everything from scratch? Email accounts (business & yahoo & gmail) and all kinds of apps!!! Took several hours, what a waste of time!!

Is there anything that backs up 100% of what I have on this phone? If I lose it or drop it...when I get a new model (I pay for insurance) I can just push a button and VOILA....I am back up and running like nothing happened?

I would appreciate any feedback from the tech gurus here, thank you!

Titanium is supposed to be the best but I think it requires root (in which case you won't be able to bring your phone in to sprint again, unless you unroot it first which is a hassle).

LOL

just like on the iPhone there's something called Jailbreaking, on Android it's called Rooting. basically, what it means is that do some shtick with your phone and you access to stuff that can make your phone do certain cool things that it wasn't able to do till then. there are certain apps that only work on your phone if it has been rooted.

the issue with rooting is, that once it's rooted, you can't bring your phone in to the sprint store, etc. unless you unroot it, which is a hassle. it's much easier to root a phone than to unroot it.

If Cholentfresser considers himself a newbie android user....what does that make me who I have one for almost a year & still think all this rooting/unrooting stuff sounds like getting a root canal in real life!  ;D

Besides, I really like going to my Sprint store, I just need to ensure they don't wipe out all my data. They did give a new HTC phone by the way.

I guess there is no way I can do what I initially asked for without getting incredibly complicated and way beyond my tech threshold ;D
