I have a $189 credit from my Amex business platinum. I want to renew my membership for $119 and then add my wife (who until now had her own plan which expired) for $60. Spoke to Clear on the phone and they said it will be 2 separate charges on my card.
Does anyone know if I'll still get the credit or will Amex only give it to me for one charge?

As noted you will get it, but be careful doing it at the very end of the year, the main charge posts right away, the second charge lags and could post next year.

Just charged main and additional yesterday. Theyre both pending. Should be good for this year's credit.

anyway to still get the credit for me and my wife with the Amex platinum which gives only $189?


As a reminder, your membership is up for renewal. Unless your MileagePlusŪ Status changes before that time, you will be charged $149.00 on 02/03/2023.

You also have 1 family member on your account, which will be billed a total of $60.00 on your renewal date.

If you are a:
PremierŪ Silver, Gold or Platinum MileagePlus member, the price for your primary account will increase from $109 to $149.
United U.S. Credit Cardmember, the price for your primary account will increase from $109 to $149.

I was dealing with them something about my expiring account, and they changed the renewal date to 2/3/23 and told me price is going up. Pretty sneaky.

My account is expired and unable to change cc or link with programs until you activate. Chatted with them and they stated they need to first activate account b4 you can make any changes (and when you activate it doesn't say costs or anything) and sure enough they "activated" my account renewal date to 2/3/23 as well). And I have to wait 24 hours b4 changing cc#. I know they are a large company but IMHO they are very shady.

same thing happened to me  but then they changed the credit card refunded me and charged the new one

Just a DP.
Signed up for a new account with Amex Platinum on Dec 29th. Received credit on Jan 2nd. Called Clear to add United MP discount. They credited $80. But Amex then clawed back $80. So basically they are clawing back, at least in this scenario. Possibly charges were close together. Maybe changing the card on the account would have different result
