Family Frequent Flyer Programs
« on: February 18, 2009, 02:09:35 PM »
Does anybody know which airline offers the option of pooling together the whole families points. I beleive thet BA allows it, are there any others?
In the One World Program which airline has the best FF Program ( Now that AA raised the amount of miles needed to redeem flights)?

With Quantas Frequent Flyer, you can make transfers between family accounts:
http://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/usingPoints/familyTransfers

Also, you can credit LY flights to Quantas and later pool your family points for an award travel.

Other programs that have family accounts are British Airways and Iberia.

Assuming you want OneWorld, I'd go with AA or LAN due to lack of fuel surcharges on award tickets..
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanx Dan for your response.  My hesitation with these two airlines are that the new AA requires a crazy amount of points to redeem flights to Israel and Lan points expire if one does not fly with Lan within a cetain amount of time (which I never do). Considering that I have  a family, I was dreaming of finding a FF program which allows pooling together family points.    If you have any aditional info I'd appreciate if you would inlighten me

It depends on which airline you are flying. If you fly El AL, you can credit your miles to Matmid, AA or Quantas FF programs . With Quantas, you can transfer miles between your family.

There is no direct way to transfer from one FF program to another.
You should offer a trade of your united miles for starwood points, and then move them to ana.

1stly you have to know what the fare basis is? it starts with a Letter. Not all fares can accumulate miles on all SkyTeam partners

2ndly you have to check with each Carrier where you want the miles to go to see what if any % of the flown miles you will get credit for

3rdly OK (Czech) is apart of SkyTeam = Continental or Delta for US Carriers CO after 10/25 will apart of Star Alliance = United and its partners

so you need to decide which Carrier and program you wish to be a part of and most likely will fly in the future

an ex I once was gonna book a Flight to TLV on Orbitz a very cheap fare , when I checked the fare codes turned out no miles can be earned going over and 50% for the way back or 25% of the total, I booked elsewhere as miles and EQMs are important to me

IMO it doesnt pay to get Czech miles as after Oct they wont be flying into the US any longer

there are also "business" programs that let you earn miles in addition to the FF miles, i know ba and alaska have them, i think AA also - certainly a way to pool miles!
