Ok. Maybe I'll get some feedback here. I booked FCO-ATH(STOP)-TLV(STOP)-EWR for 57,500 United points. Adding on FCO-ATH to ATH-TLV-EWR did not change the points. Can I now add EWR-DTW for free? Did I miss anything to take advantage of? Would I have been able to book TLV-EWR and added on both stops in Europe for free?

1. Not officially.

Can anyone help me figure out United?

First, I tried doing a regular rt EWR-TLV, Feb 6-Feb 17, 2014, and both direct UA flights were available in either direction in Saver Economy.
I also tried separately a one way from EWR-FLL on Feb 18, and there were plenty available.

But then,I tried doing a multiple destination reservation:
Ewr-tlv Feb 6 2014
tlv-ewr Feb 17 2014
ewr-fll Feb 18 2014

It allows me to pick the first flight to TLV with the 2 UA flights out of EWR. But then I try to pick the 2nd leg from TLV-EWR, and suddenly the entire month is not available in saver economy, except for Feb 8 and 11, (and even those 2 dates are only available via Zurich). But it was all available if I didn't add on the third leg to fll!!!

Can someone plug in these dates, and tell me whats going on, or what I may be doing wrong. I thought that one free stopover is allowed and UA doesn't pay shtick?

Thanks

Try doing the return as a multi-city. TLV-EWR-FLL.

Of course.

My question is, if this is the way United always works, that something that is 100% kosher with no open jaws and only one stopover, is NOT bookable online?

I'm actually a bit disturbed by this. I came to the lkwd seminar, to learn new tricks, and indeed I did ;D ,but then the first time that I tried implementing what I learned, it doesn't work :(
So are you seeing the same issue as I am? Is that the way UNITED always works online?

I just tried your routing on different days and it let me book through at 80000 points. What problem are you encountering?

Dude, just call them.
If you listened to the seminar you would know that calling is often essential.

So basically you are confirming that a RT+ one stopover may not work online many times, and you must call? Do I need to pay a phone fee, for something that should be working online?

All airline sites are buggy when you start working in stopovers.
Have them call you and tell them to waive the fee and they will. http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/20506

Can one use the one stopover and open jaw on a united international award miles trip for return flight from the "free" Hawaiian add on? for example fly round trip business ewr-tlv-ewr for 120k miles then use open jaw for jfk- hnl flight and return with stopover hnl-jfk or go with stopover and return with open jaw to another airport? will open jaw from a further airport like phl  help?

I gave it a shot but the multi flight search gets error message pretty quickly. Is there a rule against doubling back with a stopover/open jaw to similar area of of origin?

After calling united ~12 times, my wife tries calling in and one shot gets them to add a stop over to a one way flight.

Tried to actually book it, but its 100k, and there's 50k in my account and 50k in hers. Three agents tell me I absolutely need to split the 2-ticket itinerary into 2 single person itineraries to book each person from their respective united accounts (I only have enough in each account for the 50k).

Now that the confirmation codes are split, the tickets aren't giving them either a mile price or a taxes amount( I think its' the taxes). The reps always says they need to call their service desk and come back and say the ticket isn't allowed, thats why they can't price it. How do I get past this step?

Still trying - I think I'm at about 10 calls.

Each time they say "I can't fare the ticket". I asked one rep to elaborate and she said she couldn't get the computer to give her the taxes. Then comes the hold when they call the service desk, and inevitably they check the rules, and I'm refused...

How else can I be going about this?
