Come on, populated cities have always been plagued with crime. What makes you afraid to walk at night in Brooklyn, NY is related to certain faction of people within certain ethnicities that dwell in said area, that have a tendency to commit criminal acts. It's them you are afraid of, and you know it.

Odds are, if you were to get attacked, it would not be with a gun. It would likely be for something like your cellphone. You would probably walk away with a large mark on your face.

Here is the thing, if you were actually carrying a gun, and you used it against said perp, you would likely end up in prison for a few years, and start a riot in the process. (See: Trayvon Martin, Bernard Goetz)

There are many of the above ethnicity that are very good people, and do a lot of good for the world. But unfortunately, in the particular area we are talking about, 99% of crime is from said ethnicity.

Please, there's no need to beat around the bush.
There are black people in Beachwood too, I'm just not scared of them as they don't have a violent reputation.

I'm scared of places where there are violent crimes happening on a daily basis.  And plenty of said violent crimes happen at gunpoint, and these aren't guns attained legally.

The fact that these big cities haven't been able to regulate themselves out of gun-crime (see Chicago, etc) goes to prove something.

My only point is this.  There's no magic wand we can waive to solve these problems.

I agree with you, and that is why I said specifically "a faction of a certain ethnicity that dwells in said area". In your area, the above-mentioned ethnicity are good people, and that is wonderful. Not in my area.

In the place where I live, probably only 1 out of 50 cases involve a gun.

Maybe yes, maybe no. Nobody really knows what would happen if there were no gun-control laws in the big cities, whether there would be less crime or more.

The kids running around mugging cellphones wouldn't think twice if they knew people were carrying guns, because if they "thought" at all, they wouldn't be mugging people for their cellphones and risking years in prison and a damaged reputation for life.

Most of the criminals here don't really "think" too much.

call it what you want, but the fact is if you get mugged in flatbush 90% of the time the mugger will be a black (or african american for you PC people)
EDIT- what im trying to say is only one person blamed the blacks for crime (or stereotyped them). but he is completely right for the neighborhood he was discussing and he didnt say a majority of them are bad just that majority of the crime in that area is from them

I would not call that stereotyping but it does lead to profiling which most have a problem with (I am not one of them).

A female, Caucasion, 86 year old boarding a plane does not warrant the same attention as a 23 year old, male, middle-eastern looking fellow. Them are simply the facts.

The problem is when profiling goes bad. In your example the 86 year old would get no scrutiny at all. That would be a big mistake.

I think everyone should get a minimum level of scrutiny. But I believe it'd be stupid not to devote extra attention to that segment of the world who are statistically responsible for these things.
