Has anyone done this recently and know if it works?

It seems too easy to be true! A couple (without kids - with kids would be even easier) can earn star alliance gold by flying RT to Israel 3 times over 3 years on Star Alliance.
A family with 4 kids can earn it in one trip.

I am actually flying MS with entire family, and they credit more than any other program for fare classes booked (except for those booked with mileage where credit is the same - thank G-d for lifemiles, if you can only handle their issues, there are still some geographic sweet spots and hidden cities).

I was contemplating between crediting to MS or AC. Both have family pooling, but MS pools (including class bonus IINM) for status. If SK wasn't leaving Star Alliance, I would credit there, as I recently found out they don't charge YQ (at least not on the airlines I was checking).

The downside with MS is that there are no US cc partners. What would MS gold give me (not much of a big flyer). I'm currently AA top tier, I would imagine that if I wanted something for just one or two *A flights, I could get status match somewhere.

Then there's A3 where only MT points can be transferred, but there's no expiration, and some nice sweet spots.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Let us know.

The annoying part is that you effectively dump the rest of the family and make sure they remain Basics.

True, but (if it works) you can more efficiently earn status for the rest of the family by crediting all miles to the primary family member and then changing the primary family member to wife or other adult until they have status as well.

Also, for a typical family that is not flying 70k miles every few years, no one would be earning anything anyways.. At least now, you can pool everything together to get status for one member and then everyone on the same reservation can benefit.

Can you actually switch several times a year the primary user?
That would be really surprising if they would allow that.
Would that reset the counter of status miles each time.

Only one way to find out!  :D

Judging by there website they don't seem to be too official about anything.

They are nonexistent.

Check out their website. They can barley speak english...

Anyways, at this point I don't have a big family so it would not really be an added benefit to try to earn status for each person individually.
Better to pool the points together so at least one of us has status (again we're not flying enough each year to earn status on our own).

Their info is super messed up.
Supposedly different elite levels require the same amount of miles to qualify.

I wonder if one registers if there is more and more accurate info available.
