Can anyone advise re the below:
i booked $700 israel United tickets with my chase reserve points, which offers free changes (United policy).
I am attempting to book other tickets with this credit and have found that the value they are giving me is $150 for a $700 credit. for example, a ticket to miami i booked next week on credit card (cash) was $250 but using the $700 credit i would have to ADD $150 for an effective cost of $850. This is booking identical tickets on the same phone call.
I tried booking many different flights and this was the consistent pattern. Total fraud on United part (chase are saying these are the prices they are told by United) but I dont have headspace for a class action lawsuit. I attempted too many calls to chase to explain the issue but all ended with dead end Philippines customer service reps.
any ideas? its literally $2000 down the drain. TIA
