Saw somewhere that AC in some place (coc?) said within  24/72hr for mistake fares

Not so simple,
H. Erroneous fares
(1) Air Canada reserves the right to cancel reservations and/or tickets issued with an erroneously quoted fare.
(2) An erroneously quoted fare is one which carrier has, in good faith, mistakenly published and which is clearly erroneous. When compared to fares usually published in the relevant routing.
(3) Air Canada reserves the right to void the purchased ticket and refund the amount paid by the customer or, if customer agrees to forgo the refund, offer the customer the ticket at a published fare that should have been available at time of booking.
(4) Air Canada will use reasonable efforts to notify the customer:
a) Within 72 hours after the carrier becomes aware of the publishing of an erroneous. fare, that all or any portion of their ticketed itinerary has been cancelled; or
b) At least 24 hours prior to the customer’s scheduled departure from the point of origin issued on the ticket, that all or any portion of their ticketed itinerary has been cancelled, if the ticket was purchase

So if they cancel these fares at some point in the future but don't notify us after 72 hours from when the deal died then they are in violation of their own terms?

Imo no. If their efforts were still reasonable

Presumably chase if it was a Y ticket.

Read it again. It says they will make an effort. Not that if they don't cancel within 72 the purchase cannot be cancelled in the future. I expect since this was very high profile it'll be addressed soon, as DOT would require them to cover non refundable travel expenses.

IMO the reasonable effort refers to their method of notifying the customer. ie they will use email or phone but if their message goes to spam or your service stinks and they cannot reach you by phone, they've done a reasonable effort to notify the customer.

That seems accurate to me.

Can an argument be made that YQ is not subject to this, as it is not the fare, but rather a surcharge?

Not sure if we need to be arguing any of this, as we don't know if AC will try to void the tickets. Was there any official communication? After all, this made global news, was available on all platforms, and travel agents sold many tickets ex-TLV besides for whatever was generated by DDMS and other US based travel websites.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
