Where to spend sukkos
« on: August 29, 2017, 06:00:02 PM »
Any suggestions?
barely any organized tours avail... so were left to our own devices.
since Chol Hamoed is great this year pref someplace interesting to tour.
We've already spent yt and summer vacations in the following places so were looking for someplace new interesting and out of the ordinary.
Israel (Duh)
Europe - Italy, Spain, Belguim, UK (london manchester), France, Switzerland, Amsterdam, Iceland, Greece
US Most of the US (excluding Hawaii- is that a decent option?)
Cancun
Australia

We didnt really yet explore south america, Asia , South africa

Any advice would be very helpful!

The balloon fiesta in New Mexico coincides.  Just not sure if there is any minyan or sukka nearby. Seems like that would be interesting and out of the ordinary

Another alternative is Crown Heights (which I am lucky to call home). I don't think anywhere in the world compares to sukkos in Crown Heights, though it would be extremely hard to find accommodations, and the experience isn't a travel experience but a Jewish experience.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Out of all the places do you have to say Duh when it comes to Israel?
Not Amsterdam, Zurich or Madrid? Come on

They do only one day there? I don't think so.

were settling on south Asia.
Debating between thailand, vietnam, beijing, hong kong

pretty much it boils down to direct flights or stop overs....
We've called around some chabads and started getting responses.
We prefer to be in a  city close to natural attractions or national parks for chol hamoed.  if there are points hotels avail that is only a plus
We might do first days one place and fly for second to another..... I know Lucky tours is doing cambodia and vietnam....
what are the pros and cons between any of the above ?

The most interesting place in Cambodia is Angkor Wat and its area, Tonle Sap Lake, etc. There is no Chabad there, only in Phnom Phen so for Yom Tom you have to make your way to PP or Thailand.
