The spring on one side of my garage door broke (after many years). I called one place that I've used before, came pretty fast and quoted $180.
That sounded excessive to me, as a spring is $20-$30 on Amazon, which would make the labor $150! I asked how long the job takes, and he said 30-40 minutes.
Paying lawyer hourly rates for garage door repair does seem excessive to me.
Can anyone recommend someone in Brooklyn, or good advice for DIY (I prefer not to).
