I personaly asked Rabbi Genack, he said i could eat my oreos crumbled on top of my cholent (not even DE)
Then why do they say DE?
Anyway are Oreos actually that much better than Treos?

On a similar note, I know the rav hamachsir for Hershey's Chocolate Desser Topping (NOT syrup)- http://www.hersheys.com/pure-products/details.aspx?id=5725&name=HERSHEYS+Dessert+Toppings+Shell+Topping.  It is DE and not Milchig.

Last I checked (12/17/12) oreos were OU-DE. I check the allergy warning periodically to confirm that it doesn't have milk.

Not even DE...100% Pareve!

As someone who grew up cholov yisrael on Bloomeos and Treos and Pashkeoz and then did hataras nedarim (a shanda!), Oreos are much better. I've been trying to think of the right way to describe it, but it's really just that the cookie tastes more like a cookie and the cream has so much more flavor. Nonetheless, I don't really like them all that much and get sick of them after having a few. But if it's in Oreo cream pie, that's another story.

Rabbonim high up in the OU. When I was in Silver Spring, R' Lopianky also made this known.

Aha. I was asking bc it seems like this is something that could change often, based on ingredient or manufacturing processes.

How did you grow up on Treos?
They're pretty new.

You're right. I have tasted Treos in my adult life and they, along with the other Jewish brands, are good, but there is something extra in an Oreo.

I may have missed it mentioned earlier, but it seems that only Dan thinks DE is at all related to chalav stam issues. Certainly, some rabbis will tell someone who doesn't eat chalav stam to avoid DE because taam k'ikar. Rabbi Belsky told me there's very good reason to avoid DE for this reason and that was a part of the ou's decision process when dropping the DE designation so as not to make it seem like it's for sure ok.
the oreo story has been around for years with conflicting reports. please ask for yourself and don't serve it to others when they're expecting parve.
