Citi thank you prefered WMC: yes. Its one of the only WMC that covers israel with no annual fee

The Citi Dividend Rewards WM is another one. I tried renting in Israel and at first they wouldn't give it to me until I brought in a Decleration of Coverage (or something like that). But even when I did bring it in they still wouldn't give in because it didn't say including israel. In the end I got the manager to call them directly and the rep. confirmed it.  ;D

PS it was hertz

Hey Dan, can you please update this thread to show all types of cards that are still being reported to work for CDW in Israel? And maybe even a list of cards with no forex fee, or at least a separate thread with an updated list at the top?

Thanks!

What about HSBC Premier WMC? it used to cover Israel, but not sure if the terms have changed recently, planning a trip to Israel soon and wanted to rent with the card...

Thanks

Do you have it?
Can you check with this link: https://www.benefitinformationcenter.com/
I just checked my BofA WMC, and it says excluding Israel, even though they told me on the phone that it does cover

i have the sovereign bank world points WMC which does cover in Israel. On the papers they send in the mail with the card it says it covers. if u call benefit information center they say excluding Israel. I called MC Assist and i spoke to an insurance rep. he said it covers in Israel, and it will cover the deductable if i take out the insurance from the rental agency, he also said it becomes primary in Israel bec. my american insurance will not cover for Israel. Then he sent mw an email confirming that my card card covers collision in Israel with the master rental insurance.

Car insurance in Israel and which credit cards will cover
« Reply #27 on: August 03, 2011, 08:35:11 PM »
I have reveiwed numerous DD posts and am still confused. I have Amex Platinum, various CHase cards including Sapphire, and hopefully will get approved for Continental Presidential Plus card. Will any of these cover my car insurance in Israel? Sorry if this is repetitious, but I just can't find it here by searching. Thanks all!

How does this work with Citi Thank You Preferred WMC? With the CO PP card I get Avis Presidents club with some benefits. DO I rent the car using the Citi preferred WMC so I don't have to pay the insurance? Can I mix and match? Or should I just try to get them to change my newly arrived CO PP card to a Business card? But it doesn't seem the Business card gives me Avis President's club? I am still confused. Thanks.

Take a deep breath.
CO PP gets you Avic PC.  You don't need to use the CO PP for the rental.  You are free to use the Citi TYP WMC which will cover your CDW in Israel.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

If I understand correctly, if you have a card that covers Israel you can decline CDW+TP, but you have to buy LI. However, if you don't have a card that covers Israel you have to buy CDW+TP, but you do NOT have to buy LI.

For the car I'm looking at (the cheapest automatic in Budget), CDW is $11, TP is $4, and LI is $12.

Does this mean that WMC coverage is only saving you $3 a day, or am I missing something?

TP - theft protection

LI - liability

Why wouldn't you want to buy LI? Is it worth the few dollars more for the liability? My friend wasted over $2000 once because he was cheap.

As far as I  understand, if you buy CDW+TP, liability is already included. Otherwise they would have forced you to buy it.

I am going to Israel for Succos. I was just curious to see if my CITI VISA THANK YOU CARD has rental insurance. Turns out it does. It also covers in Israel. How do I know, I called and they sent me a proof of insurance letter, and explicitly stated it covers in Israel. I can send it to anyone who would like to see it, but I will block out my info.

Can this be? Will the rental places accept?

I just came back from a trip and I was all worried, because I wasn't able to get my Citi ThankYou card in time for the trip. Plus my backup was my HSBC Premier card, but when I called them they said it may exclude Israel and they couldn't provide documentation of coverage. So I went thinking I'd probably have to pay insurance. I used NoachCar and the car was from Hertz. I picked the car up at the airport and the guy took the HSBC Premier card without any questions, so I only had to pay TPPD.

Only problem is that if something had happened, you might have been stuck with the bill
