It's great that they make it early, so you can enjoy the "show" and still make it to slichos at Chatzos at the location of your choice (I'll assume that that's what Avremel did ).

Not sure of all the issues but one of them is that the zohar says that if you say 13 midos before chatzos you are Kotzetz benitios, which can never be a good thing

Stolin as well as Ger chassidim say slichos every night at 10pm, I have no clue as to the halachik basis for that and how one can dream that, that's called ashmores haboker but that's their minhag..
