I just applied for both the Southwest and the Sapphire Preferred using the 2 Browser Trick. I got pending decisions on both. So I called their lending department (reconsideration), and the representative just asked why I am seeking a large credit line from Chase since I have had a number of recent card applications (BA-March, CO-June-now canceled, Old UA-June-Now canceled). I just said I was looking for a card for my business, etc.. Put me on hold for a little, came back and asked what Credit line I wanted on each card, put me on hold again, and approved both. =)

Has anyone gotten the annual fee waived? I am thinking about applying for it now, so prompt responses would be great!

If not, is there anyway to avoid getting slapped with the fee for the first year?

You have 30 or 60 days depending on the rep.

Right, but elsewhere (multiple places), I've seen mention of 8/8 in the AM, so I'm asking Dan to clarify.
