Anybody have success in getting the 50k bonus after having got it for the same card within the year? I was approved for the card but they won't give me the bonus....

Did you use the same FFN? Did you already spend the money to meet spend?

They automatically put it on the same FFN.

I haven't used the card yet, I just asked them beforehand if I would be eligible for 50k and they said that it is written in the small writing that you can only get the bonus once.

What can I do?

You should have opened a new Southwest account and added it on the application. You can try spending anyways and the bonus might post. YMMV.

the new FFN is helpful but usually not neccessary, if you make the spend you will almost always get the points.

That being said, asking them may have nixed it for you if they noted the account, but you most certainly should make the spend anyways i think you have a very decent chance of getting the points anyways.
(i have successfully churned SW cards on the same FFN at least 10 times between me my wife and my family)

Hello everyone,
please be kind, first time DDF'er. BIG thanx to all contributor to this thread. it has helped me dramatically in my first attempt at free travel.
i reached my $2000 spending this past month (212 in Nov. and 1940 in Dec.) I also changed my statement date to 12/10 to try and get the companion pass too. I only got the 2152 points NO BONUS POINTS. do i have to wait till next statement to get my 50,000 point or will they post sooner?
also do balance transfers count towards the 110,000 points?
and if i qualify for the free companion tickets after i already booked flights but before i actually fly, can i get credited half the points.

Bonus points will not transfer as soon as you meet the threshold.  You need to wait until after your statement closes for them to post.

No, only purchases.

Good luck with the CP....Thanks to DDF I had one for most of 2012 and all of 2013 and got plenty of use out of it.

2 things:
1. my statement did close on 12/10, but the only points i got were for actual purchases.
2. so even though you get "points" for BT, (quote from Chase.com "1 Rapid Rewards Point for every $1 of eligible balance transfers made within the first 90 days your account is open (up to $10,000)" ) only points earned from purchases count towards the 110,000 for CP?

Also bonus points you get from opening a new card and reaching the minimum spending threshold.

If you meet the spending threshold too close to the statement closing date, the bonus will post the following month.

I moved my statement to dec 25 so I could give myself enough time to spend for CP. Do you think it will credit to southwest in time?

So basically I switched my closing day to the 10th of the month to try and get my points faster, as now won't get them till after January 10.
Is there any way to get them sooner?

Ugh. I gave up on pursuing my 110k companion pass because I thought my (second) 50k sign up bonus would never post on time.

Well, guess what? It just did. I have now eared 104,600 miles this year.

Is there any way in heck to get 5,400 miles to post before Jan 1?

MR!
Or for the less adventurous UR>HGP>WN
Airline acronym thread IYF.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
