I just got the southwest card, did my 2,000 spending. After receiving my miles can i close this card to avoid the 99$ annual fee? Will i loose my miles?

I opened a southwest, made the spend and 50k hit my sw account. I now have the $100 charge, and I am considering cancelling to avoid the fee. Can I loose the points if I cancel? I seem to recall a rep telling me once that I risk getting them pulled back...anyone know?

I am pretty sure that barcley pulls back us airways points if you cancel too quick. At least thats what the reps have told me a couple times. Unless they dont know what they are talking about...

But according to you, is that a hard and fast rule? How do you know?

it's worth a try, but just flying twice without paying for luggage saves $100. So between that and the 50K points (several free RT flights), IMO, it's worth the $69 - $99 annual fee.
