For a new account that shows "Next payment due Jan 1, 2019" when will the first statement close?
I believe its 3 days after bill is due.

So 1/4 and that would make first statement close 12/4? If so that would be great as I won't be without a CP except for a couple of days.

This was the business card. When should I apply for the personal card?

I may be misunderstanding, but that sounds right. I'd get an opinion from someone more worthy just to be sure. Any reason to wait on the new app?

If you're going to do all the spend at once, then wait, so you can just hit it after your Dec statement closes. If you are going to do gradual spend, start now.

All spend will be done in one shot after Dec close. Just wondering should apply today for the second card or wait a couple of days. Does it matter either way?

IMO it makes no difference.

Just double checking. Statement closed 12/4. I can do spend now and bonus will post after 1/4/19 statement close?

Bonus will never post before next statement closes. At times it will take a second statement after the spend was done. If your next statement closes in Jan, you're good.

Is the 12k spend for 20k points separate or does the initial 1k spend counts toward it?

The 1k counts towards it. Usually they add the word "additional" as in "spend an additional $xxxx" if it's not included. Don't see that here.

I'm new here, as you can tell. I've been reading DDF for the last three months and just opened my first SW cc with a signup 40k points and another 20k for spending 11k within 11 months. I want to reach 110k to get a companion pass. Is there a possibility of opening another card (for another 40k) and combining the points? My DH doesn't either have a SW card yet. Does that help?

Welcome to the forums. Opening up a card under his account will not help because I assume he has a different Rapid Rewards number. What you could do is open up a different SW cc under your RR number and the points will combine...good luck!

You're saying I can open up two different SW cc's on my name (using the same RR number)? That simple?

Tell me if I have my calculations right: 40k + 40k = 80k sign up and then I'd need to spend another another 11k within 12 months (actually before the end of December so that it posts in 2019) on one card = 20k bonus, plus another 11k within 12 months on the other card = 20k bonus, Total: 120k points = companion pass.

Then I book myself a flight with all those points and DH comes along for free??? Where were we till now???

Kind of. First of all, one would need to be the business version, the other would need to be personal. You can't receive the bonus on 2 personal SW cards within 24 months. Secondly, you would only need to spend 11k on one card. Sign up bonus would be 80k (40k per card) then spend 11k on one, you will earn a 20k bonus bringing you to 100k. You will earn (at least) 11k miles from your spend, bringing you up past 110k. Once the points post you will earn a companion pass.

Correct. Sorry, I though it was the 40/20 60 not the straight up 60.
