I was waiting to activate my cards till jan 1 st.  I was trying to get the companion pass for 2012-2013,
But today I see a bill for the $69.00
The payment is due jan. 1
What should I do?

Gut Vuch All, I have the same question as Rosie5442.

Annual fee ≠ first charge.
+100

Don't understand that answer, is annual fee considered as first purchase or not?
I got my annual fee charge on Friday

You'll be ok either way, but you could always just pay on 1/1/2012.

a little OT...

I have 110k SWA points that i want to convert into the maximum amount of cash (as apposed to flying)
What is the best way to do this?

1) is it possible to get amazon gc's and use them on amazon payments?

2) is my best option to get walmart gc's and resell them to plasticjungle for 91%?

any other more lucrative ideas? (barring using the points for flights or actually using the gc's)

You sure you don't want to use it for flights? By far the most lucrative option (obviously depending on how much you fly), would be to buy a companion pass with those 110K miles. That could easily be worth thousands more than whatever is next best.

The thing is that i have 55k in my account and the other 55k in my wifes account, i don't think that is transferable also i prob fly domestic once every year and a half and granted if i had free flights with no redemtion options i would fly more, i still feel it would be more worth while to cash out, so any ideas?

With their current promo, assuming I was never going to use them for flights, I'd get GCs.

GCs aren't a bad value, especially with their wide-ish selection and current promotional 25% bonus.

I appreciate the input, but does anyone have answers to these questions?

Steve, that's what I plan on doing. Remember, deadline to buy WMT gc's at the higher rate is 12/15.

Does anyone know if plastic jungle generates a 1099 form for selling that many gc's?

here is my updated plan:
1) redeem for walmart gc's
2)buy visa gc's on walmart.com (at approximate 3% loss)
3)and redeem for cash via Amazon Payments

Any obvious flaws?

do you know that to be true of walmart.com policy or are you just suggesting the possibility?
I don't see anything to indicate that on the website and i can't think of any good reason they would not allow that

My statement just closed. Anyone know when I can expect the 50k bonus to show up in my SW account?

Dan, thanks for your prompt response.  I was just approved for the SWA Business card; I had them move some of my credit line from the British Airways card (my wife and I just drained our BA accounts for two Biz Class tix to HKG and BKK next fall).

With the 50K from August's Personal card, 50K from today's Business card (wish me luck!!), plus $10K in spend that I will rush through in the next few days, I hope to qualify for a companion pass for next year.

It worked!! I was just notified that I qualified for the Companion Pass. Thanks, Dan, for your encouragement.
