Yeah, except for the fact that it hasn't (at least until now) been accurate.

The fact that two SWA bonuses give you 100K towards CP proves that much.

There are multiple parts to that that T&C statement.  Here is the whole:
Quote
Companion Pass status is based on taking 100 qualifying one-way flights or earning 110,000 Qualifying Points in a calendar year.  A qualifying flight for Rapid Rewards Companion Pass status is a one-way revenue flight on Southwest Airlines from an origin city to a destination city, including any intermediate stops and/or connections on Southwest Airlines.  Companion Pass Qualifying Points are earned from revenue flights, points issued on Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Credit Cards, and points earned from Rapid Rewards Partners.  Purchased points and points earned from program enrollment, Tier bonuses, flight bonuses, and Partner bonuses do not count toward Companion Pass status.

Therefore, points earned from the SWA card (including the bonus) should count.  Points purchased from SWA should not.

You're confusing bonus points with spend points.

I am not confusing them.   I am aware of the difference between bonus and spend points.

The way the Chase rep explained it to me was that the 50k sign up bonus one gets from the CC would be considered "points issued on Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Credit Cards" which is why people who have 50k bonus + 50k bonus +10k spend get the CP.

I'm still waiting for my statement on my SWA card to close so I'm speaking from what the rep told me, not from experience.  From anyone who got the 50k bonus in the past, was the 50k bonus included on the statement?  If so then the rep would be correct in saying the points are issued on SWA RR CCs and per the T&Cs should count towards 110k.

I think that's the problem. In addition to the fact that you're asking a Chase rep to explain a SWA product, you're relying on what a CSR said.

Yes, thus far (in 2011) SWA seems to be including the CC bonus as qualifying points. But there are many among this community who suspect if it will be the same in 2012, as the rules on the books seem to lean toward no.

AJK you're misreading the terms.  "Partner bonuses" is not trying to exclude a credit card signup award.  In fact SWA can't even tell which part of the points transferred earned from the SWA card are from the signup or regular usage, but at any rate all points earned on the SWA card are CP eligible.

Perhaps, but then what are partner bonuses?

I know I've read somewhere that there was some suspicion about this remaining true in 2012. Gotta find it.

EDIT: I found it, but it's from another blogger.

UR to SWA transfers won't count, but that's not "points earned on the SWA card"
