I had cancelled my Southwest Visa in order to make room for more Chase cards in recon... a few months back

I went to SW site to redeem my points on gift cards and their telling me it can only be used for flights since no longer have Chase card and points will expire in 2 years with no activity.

Anyone have similar situation. Any advice besides flying SW? Figured I would cash out with $500 in Amazon GC's.

Thanks

Thanks. I guess I'll wait 6-12 months and hopefully churn card again to give me that access.

Perhaps try one of two things:

  • Ask Chase if they can re-instate the closed card. I know that they are able to do this for a certain period of time after the card is closed, but I don't know what that time period is.
  • If this card is churnable (and I don't know if it is, maybe be with a new SW account number?) you can re-apply, and you will now have 100k points to cash out.

Good to know since I have 150k points that I probably would never use on flights.
Is this the only airline that does this?

I already have a SW card but it doesn't say "signature" under the logo like in the pic on the application.

Can I assume it's a diff. card and apply for that one too?

It's not a diff card. Signature is just given to those Visa cards with a certain credit limit IIRC.

I know SW has a few cards (plus, premier, or something like that)...I just don't see how to tell what I have. I guess I can call...

IIRC you can tell by the amount of your annual fee.

I simply sent a SM saying
"To whom it may concern,

I just found an offer that states after your first purchase with your Southwest credit card you will receive 50k Southwest miles. This is an increase of 25k compared to my current promotion. I would like you to honor the 50k Southwest airline points promotion.

Thank you,

JJ1000"

If I have 2 different southwest accounts that both got the 50k bonus and I merge them will the miles still qualify for a companion pass?

Let us know :)
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Or am i better off having chase change the rapid reward number to my existing one? so the extra 50k goes into same account. The only issue is they may take away the bonus?

The 50k offers are back now. But now they require $1,000 in spending.
