Posting for my parents (older folks )being that they arent tech savvy enough for this so any help would be much appreciated. I already looked through about 30 pages and still cant get figure this out definitively.

Mom got: 1 business southwest and 1 reg southwest card

Dad got: 1 reg southwest card

They each got 50k per card and spent the required 2k per card plus more to hit the required 110k

They would like to use these points to fly to Florida together and they dont know how to get companion pass and whether they need to link the cards etc and should that be done by phone or email?

Any help would be appreciated.

She should have gotten an email from SW that she is eligible for the CP. She can login to SW with this link to check her eligibility.

Won't necessarily count towards a companion pass.

If I apply for a biz Premier, do you think I can get it matched to the recent 50k promotion?

Probably is YMMV. The screenshot provided above seems to be for the personal card, not sure it will work for business.

Chase used to match recently opened cards to bonuses within the last 90 days. Is this still the case?

I have the Southwest Business card with 50,000 points -- my first southwest card. I would like to get the companion pass. If I apply for the Southwest personal with the same Rapid Rewards number as I did with my business card, I should still get the points, right?

Thanks in advance!

hard to guess cuz AFAIK the airline has never been sold before. In fact they have been buying other airlines lately.

I did, I was just playing with you. I don't know the answer to your question, but I'd imagine it's not very much.

there is no official market as brokers won't usually buy them, that being said in my opinion 1.4 cpp is a fair price and i have paid that in the past when i needed points

Why don't brokers buy them?

Why don't brokers buy them?
probably because they don't fly internationally, they don't offer business class or first class cabins, and the number of points required for an award flight is based on the cash price of the ticket as opposed to a distance based award chart. All these things devalue southwest points in the eyes of brokers.

+1
that being said, SW points are still worth far more than the 1cpp they will redeem for gc's

IIRC you get something like 1.8cpp if you use it for flights (value relative to the cost of the ticket)

according to southwest, you need 60 points per dollar of ticket price. If my math is correct that comes out to 1.67 cpp value.

i just did a random search and did the math myself the ticket was $372 and cost 21,060 points, it comes out to 56.4 points to the dollar which is 1.77cpp i'm not sure if the formula changes or not.
