Sometimes, but you must also take into consideration that you're much more limited with destinations.
If you just want to keep your options open, i hear ya.

But if you know where you will often be traveling you might find SW to be much better than BA, for instance i travel from DEN-NYC about four times a year with my wife and two kids, BA basically is useless (extremely limited options, about 30k roundtrip with a stopover) and SW has an abundance of flights which are about 6500 points a way so with my two companion passes (which also means i have 220k) i can fly my family for a total of 26k with 8 free pieces of luggage. Thats two years of free flying with four cc's!

Beat that.

try the credit analyst number instead or try calling right before calling center closes, also business is always harder in my opinion

I believe you just need to convince them that you need the different/same products.

Separate personal spend into categories? Small/large purcahses? Not sure if one for the AU primarily would work (they might not like that)...

I just got 2 personals approved. I told them I needed it to track different expenses.

They closed my UNited which was just up for its annual, and took 5k from a diff account to give me both cards......beauty!!!

Help, I dont see a way out of this one...

While my two personal southwests went through np.

My wife only got one and chase claims its a duplicate (same exact application) Although I did double check before submission, its possible they are right and theres no way to prove it on my end.

Is there any way at all to get this through.

We are a family of four and I was seriously counting on these two companion passes!

When did she apply for the cards? If it was today, maybe you can still submit another app for her. If they pull another time, maybe you can get it merged. You can also get the business card for her, or just buy tons of VR or GC's.

I appreciate your response and all your responses until now

No,

The application is 10 days old.

I'm grappling with whether to apply for 2 25k business cards now...she did a 2bm with them at the end of June and another 2bm with them 10 days ago which ended up being this duplicate of 50k that is messing us up.

I guess there is no way to "switch" an application once it is in???

If I do have to figure out a way of getting another SW 50k into the account, when would be the deadline to qualify for companion?

I applyed for both personal got pending on both, I called reconsideration they approved me one, but they say that both applications were for the premier, is there any way that  I could see now what application I submitted?
update after 2 HUCA they approved me the second card after closing another card they didn't even ask me why I need 2 SW cards and she even told me she sees that I called already today about this app so never give up even if they say it's the same card.

Approved for  sw per and biz on August 7. Here's my plan to get companion pass for 2014 and 15.
Spend must be completed by Nov 6.
Set my billing date to be on the 5th of the month. Spend 2k on each card on Nov. 6.
Statement will normally close on Dec 5th, but on Dec 2nd, call to change billing date to the 1st of the month. That should push of the closing date to Jan 1st.
Any reason why this wouldn't work?

Update: booked my first companion flight :). How long does it take for the pass to arrive? And if I don't get it before my flight (1.5 weeks), can my companion still come with me?
