Ugh. I gave up on pursuing my 110k companion pass because I thought my (second) 50k sign up bonus would never post on time.

Well, guess what? It just did. I have now eared 104,600 miles this year.

Is there any way in heck to get 5,400 miles to post before Jan 1?
Prepay  my dentist for my implant, post and crown.  ;D

Or prepay any of your upcoming large bills.  buy VR like mad.  load up on gift cards.
Anything!

But do it QUICKLY!  At least a week(?) before the statement closes.  And adjust your statement closing date to as late in dec as possible to give yourself time. But make sure it closes in Dec.

Good luck!

I made a purchase on 12/11 to get the CP, but Chase just told me it didn't post til 12/15 :( My statement closed on 12/12.

(In retrosopect I should have asked for them to delay the statement close date)

Any other way to get the 4500 points I need for the CP?
What about closing the card (I have another SW card linked to Rapid Rewards that will remain open)?

What about transferring miles from another program - will that work, and is it worth it?

yes, you can do it -
I just got my 110,000 posted B"H and it seems that they automatically merged my 2 accts. for the comp. pass.
2 people to CVS and Office Depot in the next 2 days -- plenty of time till Dec 31.
(also, I think it helped that i prepaid the SW bill so no waiting until bill was paid to post points)

@Big Dan Fan, I don't think it works like that. The statement has to close. Please, someone CMIIW.

i already got the 110K and the companion pass email automatically - it was not me who joined my 2 accounts so it must have been SW.

I've been prepaying off the balance (actually went $1k over) in prep for the 2013 posting,
so if my acct./billing cycle was done by the 12th, then it all happened right then...

I opened My 2 cards mid november. Both of them had closing dates of jan 13th. Yesterday i received a statement for one of the cards! I had already completed the spend needed for the bonus to kick in, because the closing date was supposed to be in Jan of 14. I called chase and they said they will put a note on my file , and will get back to me. Does anyone have any advice?

were you intentionally trying to make them both post the bonus points in 2014?

Transferring miles from another program does ccount towards your companion pass total.  I think it's worth it because it's so few miles used and so many potential free trips gained.  I don't know how quickly any transfers post, but if any post within 2 weeks it would work.

mine posted early, too...
but, I was rushing it, bec i realized that since SW#1 already went to 50K,
then I should make SW#2 go to 50K in the same year, so that i'll at least get the CP
for 2014. (and not the additional 2015)

I just realized... the companion pass... you have to "designate" a companion?
That means that you always have to take the same person with you?
Is that correct? I mean, I'd love to take my wife with me on a bunch of trips, but that's not exactly practical at this phase in our life. I was thinking to bring different kids with me on trips. Is that not possible?

I know that is meant to be a way of mocking people, but I actually loved it! Thank you!

I apologize if this was already discussed. i tried reading through this whole thread (VERY looooong) and i attempted to google.
As i posted earlier, i changed my closing date to try and get my 50,000 points early in order to book flights for January. For some reason (the common consensus seems to be that i reached my $2000 too close to closing date) my bonus points didn't post this month. My new closing date will be on 1/10/14, Is there any way to get my 50k bonus to post FASTER?

I just realized I royally messed up... both of my SW cards close in Dec and I did the minimum spend required already.

If I change the due dates to a day in the month that passed already, is there a chance it will extend this period and the points won't post until January?
I only paid 15% by switching to dansdeals
