The only indication I see is the description that calls it a "240-ct. pack of 16 ounce containers" (and then uses a plural verb even though the subject is the pack).  That makes it sound like there are 240 containers.

Obviously it makes a difference in the price but also made a difference whether we were buying this just for ourselves or needed to split it

So since these nest in themselves, if you have room for one, you have room for as many as you want to buy because each will fit in the previous one.

i would guess that its 120 lids and 120 containers.i have seen other such boxes from other companies that say 240 pcs. but are 120 containers and 120 lids. i can be wrong obviously.

So I asked on Amazon and someone responded 240 containers and lids...though written that way it didn't make it exactly clear, lol.

Almost as good as just answering "Yes" - we had already narrowed it down to those two possibilities.

I think the 2nd sentence of the reply is noteh toward 240 + 240 - otherwise why point out that "it's a lot" as if that might be overwhelming?

I understood it to mean 240 containers each with a lid.

It may be less useful to know now, since the price has gone up a bit, but I ordered these, and it was indeed 240 of each - packed as 10 stacks of 24 (5 x 2 in the box), in separate bags for each set of 24 containers (bottom layer) and caps (top layer).
