Just spoke to Qantas they claim it’s not their flight so contact elal… cat and mouse.
As i know for $ you can always ask for an upgrade by elal. I just booked a reward elal flight thru Capital One and as soon as i got an elal booking reference- i was able to bid for an upgrade on elal.com

They claim they can’t modify any part of the booking.

That isn't a booking using frequent flyer points.  But in general, if you book cash or with Matmid points, it typically allows you to place an upgrade bid.  Don't think that happens using QF points.

When searching jfk tlv  it wouldn't display  how much taxes I would need to pay to book the award if I don't have enough points in my account for the booking . Is there any workaround to see how much taxes and fees will be charged ? (Not for elal flights, for other partners)

You need to have the points to check AFAIK.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Reason I'm asking, I see availability on Qantas for Emirates from nyc-to Dubai in business and from Dubai to tlv for approximately 170k . Just not sure how much taxes would be added. Wouldn't want to transfer before I know how much I'll need to spend out of pocket. Or is there a better way to book this award with an other partner?

That’s the work around. Use the UK site. It’s a bit annoying, but search as a round trip originating in Israel, pick a random flight, and then you can see price (in pounds) for the return, which would be JFK-TLV.

Aha. Would it be the same amount if the trip originates from the US ?

As far as I know, the pricing is by segment, and there is no price difference whether a round trip originates in Israel or America (obviously the Israel segment will be more expensive due to increased taxes).

YQ definitely varies greatly based on origin, direction, ow, rt, etc.

But is there a Virgin type difference between a round trip originating in Israel vs originating in America, or will adding the segments give you a round trip price?

To elaborate (someone correct me if I’m wrong):
If I hypothetically wanted to fly October 1-October 5 JFK-TLV, I would search TLV-JFK September 25-October 1, pick any random inbound flight, write down the price for the JFK-TLV flight (for the sake of simplicity let’s say 40000 points and $40), then search a one way TLV-JFK on October 5 (40000 points and $60), I could then add the two and know my final price is 80000 points and $100? Or does the YQ not work like that?

Elal doesnt give over all their available award seats to Qantas, they block certain seats

Has anyone else had trouble managing booking on El Al?
I have the correct pnr, confirmed by el Al but it won't let me log in to manage. WhatsApp chat also confirmed it.

I have e-ticket numbers for all the pax on both reservations and qantas took my points and charged the fees, so I don't think it's one of those stories where they never ticketed.
