Again, if there isn’t Qantas-elal award availability, there’s no way to change. Not sure why you think you should be able to. If there is, no one has to call elal, it’s a simple change.

Saying that even if you see open seats on elal can't get it because most likely it's not released as award for qantas which is the case now, if booked on elal much easier to change a flight because they would gladly change it.

Are you able to buy an extra legroom seat through El Al? I want to book this same flight (not same date) and I'm on the fence using cash or using Qantas miles. El Al charges $100 per seat for extra legroom. I want to be sure I'd be able to buy that if I booked with Qantas, otherwise I'd use cash. If you're able to confirm for me I would be forever in your debt.

Found some availablity in coach on Elal through Qantas to fly to TLV the week of Pesach, which was not showing as available through Airfrance.

I had the same when I canceled a LY booking over the phone. Although they said they would charge.

Oh man I just cancelled a flight a few days ago online and WAS charged the points. Keep us updated if you ever get charged.
