MIA>TLV availability (according to EF) doesn't show in that search.

Based on the rep I last spoke to, LY pulled the MIA flight from QF. They werenít able to book it over the phone either.

But IME, canít trust the Aussie reps just yet, although I do have a feeling this one sounds true - why else would MIA availability not show, while other US locations do

Yes
Interesting, its not like MIA is such a hot route that they wouldn't allow Qantas redemtions, if anything they wouldn't allow NYC.

I am not so sure you are correct.

They are exclusive with a non-stop from MIA-TLV and only have a single flight doing that route, and that flight only flies 3x a week. Contrast that with the NYC-TLV route that is served by multiple ELAL daily nonstop flights, 2 UA nontops, and 1 DL nonstop, in addition to a big variety of more or less convenient flights with one stop, that allow for 2 free pieces of luggage.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

So why do they allow from LAX?

Different equipment. More seat inventory. Also that's a mature route.

I am not saying that I have the definite answer, I am just giving you a counter argument to the one that says that NYC-TLV should be more likely to be restricted.
