I tried booking an AA ticket to Israel Feb 20-24 with my qantas points. They wanted $689 PLUS 63,000 points. The message at checkout reads as follows * The card payment amount comprises taxes, fees and USD $598.00 for carrier charges that you must pay, in addition to the points required for the Classic Reward.*
Last time I used them the fee wasn't near as much. When did this happen? Are there other dates or airlines that the fee wouldn't be as much?
Last time I used elal, so it is possible they only give these fees for AA. But I do not see any availability with elal. Why is that?

you wont be able to sell on elal.com what is available for qantas, you need to check by qantas.com

Right now there are no availabilities for elal on qantas. Dan mentioned you can check on elal and then text qantas with flight information to book. But it seems you need a matmid account to search.

Do you have another way to get elal now? Nothing shows up on qantas.

I tried contacting Qantas by SMS to book a flight, but I got an automatic reply that due to (I don't remember exactly), the option of SMS is not available.

Any tricks out there to book for cities that don't show up in the Qantas site search as a valid origin (i.e. LCA)?
Or am I doomed to call the hotline?

I have 90K miles parked at Qantas. Was planning to use it for El Al but no availability showing... I transferred from Amex back in the days when it was easy to book EL Al with Qantas.

I guess calling Qantas won't help if it doesn't show on their website as available?
