I have mixed feelings about this one. On one hand I really like it but on the other hand the tune doesn't quite fit the words as perfectly as the others.

for יי מלך, יי מלך, יי ימלוך לעולם ועד, fit beautifully.

Chabad House I daven in uses "Our Ancestry" - it fits perfectly.

You really need Mottel Berkowitz in order to make the words fit.  ;)
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Link? Couldn't find "Our Ancestry" listed here.

No, we sing that for Pischu Li by Hallel.

The mesorah is that Rav Yankel Shtinkavitch made it up in Kletzk in 1874, (some say his brother Getzel made it up)  :P

I know you're joking, but the "mesorah" you're teasing about doesn't go that far back, and the Charitonows are renowned within what was a relatively small community. It's like you telling me, "my cousin's grandfather made up that song."

Nope, I think the middle link is pischu. Top and bottom are the universal yaaleh.

All these niggunim are not chabbad, they are the standard ashkenaz nusach..

Chabbad niggunim are tzoma, 4 bbovas etc. These are totally different styles.

All 3 links are the same tune.

It's a very very similar tune to the tune LW uses for Pischu Li

But then where does LW use the Chabad Yemin Hashem/Pischu Li ;)

I always thought like you, that the Yaaleh/Pischu Li and Ki hinei were Universal Ashkenazi songs.

But maybe their Chabad, and were adopted by Litvaks.

I didn't hear good enough proof either way.

I'm undecided.

I hear you, it may be true.

Those 2 songs are literally classics in the Litveshe world.

Keili Atah is also a classic, but we know it's Chabad.

That's the difference between songs composed by a Chabad Rebbe vs a Chosid.
There's a rich catalog of each.

We don't use that tune.

And indeed it is much more Chabad sounding than the other 2, as CBC pointed out.

But not all Chabad songs have the distinctive Chabad sound, so it doesn't prove anything.
