I'm not familiar with how the ShluchimExchange works, but if you click the notify button you can get an email every time someone replies to a thread you subscribed to.

on the shluchim exchange every email that gets sent out gets forwarded to your inbox, so that you have the whole message. you can also respond via your email. It makes it very convenient, as you can make a special acct for the forum where all the emails go. You can also choose which forums you want to sign up to to receive emails from that forum.

I guess you can't do that here....any techies wanna set that up?

Writing that kind of functionality from scratch will take a long time, and it'll also require additional server resources to process the responses which come via email.

If the OP (or someone else) can find an SMF mod that does it (SMF is the forum platform used by this site, a mod is used to install features/enhancements), maybe Dan will be willing to set it up.

1. I don't know how resource intensive it is.
2. It might be buggy.
3. It might not be compatible with DDF's SMF setup and/or any current mods we're using.

The simple answer is yes. you can get every post emailed to you. (but you cannot reply by email.)

It is incredibly easy to spoof email headers, which would enable one to post as another...

The shluchim exchange had a bit of trouble from that years ago, I'm not sure what they did about it...

I was kind of wrong when I posted that.
I assumed (as they say, assumption is the mother of all f**k-ups) that clicking notify by a board it subscribes you to every thread in the board. I was wrong, apparently it only notifies you when a new thread is posted.
So while you could get every post emailed it's not very practical as you would have to subscribe to each thread individually. (as asherO said above)
