PS: If the reason you were declined on a 5/24 card is 5/24, and you are indeed 5/24, YOU WILL NOT GET APPROVED.

Even if it's already paid off, they will still look to the report and not to the current balance.  They'll even admit the report is a month out of date and the current balance is, umm, current.

Sometimes they do seemingly stupid things.

That's why you don't have them re-pull until the NEW balance gets reported.

Methinks it's time to give up on a Chase application. I've called all the recon numbers multiple times, and I even opened an inquiry with the Executive Office. Chase initially approved the application by closing a different card, they even sent me a letter to that effect, but then they rescinded that offer and sent me a secondary-review letter saying that upon reconsidering they decided not to approve my application.

Should I give up? I've had 7 Chase approvals this year, and 3 in the last 3-4 months, which is the reason they're giving for denial.

Lastly, when do you think I'll be safe to reapply with them? (obviously it depends how many inquiries I have on the credit report they pull, but I'll try to keep that inquiry-count to the minimum possible)

Thanks in advance for your advice and opinions.

Interesting story - my chase biz banker just put through a 4th Chase card within a 2 month span - with only a 1000 (not 10k) balance in the account.
Underwriting said it had to be a written letter, etc but she went over their head with some internal department, just got a confirmation from chase credit we shoud receive card in 2 weeks.

End of August got ink.
Sept did triple app for saphhire preferred, continental, and United.
continental and united were declined.
Beginning of Oct reconsideration got continental through moving credit from biz card - but would absolutely not open 4th card in short span.

1 week ago received offer to open biz checking and get $200 back.
Met the banker, made a $1k deposit - told her about my situation and that recon would expire on succos so needed something by today. She called some internal department who left notes for underwriting that I would be calling. She had apparantly arranged for another 5k credit shift from Saphire - but when I called with the reference number, underwriting said no way. The notes did indicate banker had called and that I would be calling in - but still problem with 4 cards. Suggested the banker call internal again and this time conference me in to go over underwriting - because underwriting would anyway have needed a written letter from the banker as has been mentioned here.
She called today again and got it pushed through. Got a call from Chase asking me to confirm the shift in credit. I said yes. They said congrats you're getting the card in 2 weeks.

Its amazing what a good/nice banker can get done (what a shame that I let my accounts get shut due to zero balance, I just couldn't deal with the fees or DC swipes...).

Can you please PM me her contact info? I'll gladly open (another) Chase checking account if she can push an app through for me.

I have had the Chase Continental for two years and just closed it to avoid the annual feed . In the middle of may I opened the Saphire card. In the middle of July I opened the United card. I just applied for the Freedom card and was denied. The reconsideration department rep said it wasn't because of bad credit, rather because they wanted to see more history on the new products. I suggested they transfer credit from the other cards, but that wasn't good enough for them. Any suggestions?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

I had the same issue after having the Continental, United and freedom, they wouldn't give me the sapphire.

I was told by the rep that there is a 2 card limit every 30 days.  But... rep was wrong.
I called back and told them I'm okay with them moving credit around to make room for another card, and they did just that.
Try calling back.

miles can take more than a month to post.
