PS: If the reason you were declined on a 5/24 card is 5/24, and you are indeed 5/24, YOU WILL NOT GET APPROVED.

Always a "HUCA situation" if you have the patience to call back.
I've dealt with chase recon a number of times recently. IME they're much more lenient at night (between 8 and 10pm).

Early AM is good as well. Try not to call during the "regular" work day when they have their normal staff.

Just applied for the Ink Bold and the Ink Plus cards and got pending on the Bold and got declined for the Plus.
I put in a call to the recon department, and after what seemed like a lifetime of a grilling interrogation, got approved for the Bold, and as far as the Plus goes I had to move some credit over from my Sapphire card to get it approved!
Gotta love recon, but they were probably trained by the KGB!
I also had them expedite the cards to me 1 to 2 business days by UPS ;D !

After my 5th call a rep told me to stop calling and they already told me that they can't approve my wife cause of lack of credit history and calling won't help anything.   HUCA ???

Actually I was had the same situation with my wife. After numerous HUCA's, they simply refused to budge. I even sent in a special reconsideration letter from a branch and had a banker call reconsideration. No luck. I finally just signed her up for Banana Republic and Kohl's cards.
Keep trying obviously but it seems as no credit history is more difficult to HUCA through...

Add her as a co-owner not just authorized user of your oldest card.  that should age her credit.

Early AM is good as well. Try not to call during the "regular" work day when they have their normal staff.

I also have a great experience calling in the AM. Even though its annoying that the recon line says it opens at 7am but doesnt actually open till 8am.

I spent 40 mins on the phone with a very helpful guy who was able to push through 2 applications that were originally being declined.  First he told me it was because there were too many applications in a short amount of time, and said he could look at them individually for reconsideration.  When he did he said they were declined because I had too much chase available credit relative to my reported income, so he helped me move credit from my other chase card, to get approved for all 3.

Does Chase ever say it's denied on the automated system? It's been saying pending for the past few weeks?
