What could you possibly answer recon when they say denied because of too short credit history?

Tell them you actually have a very long credit history but were forced to change your name and Social Security number in order to apply for new credit cards to feed your airline miles addiction.

firstly, from what i understand, it's not possible to get a new social, and secondly would they just believe that and not ask me what my old social is to look it up?

sarcasm my friend, sarcasm.  if you did what I said, they'd laugh and hang up on you.  and probably never give you credit again

yes?

Ah, well I have had luck getting them to reconsider people when they had no previous cards by getting a nice rep to understand that you have to start building history somehow...

BTW i'm asking this question after this already happened to me, I applied for 3 chase cards using 3BM and got denied them all, when i called up they saw all 3 at the same time, 1 was denied for too little history and the other 2 for multiple credit apps. I told them to forget about the second 2 and just reconsider the first (sapphire preferred) and he still denied, called back straight away, denied again, the 3rd time i spoke to a supervisor and they told me the history is the problem (only since nov 09) so i didn't have any real arguments but i just argued that its perfect history even though its short, eventually i got it.
my question is, is there anything more useful or practical to say?

also since it denied them for different reasons does that mean to say they pulled more than one credit report?

IDK if 3BM is 'designed' for credit n00bs, as multiple apps can potentially be an additional risk factor, which won't look good at all for someone with little (or no) credit history.

does 3bm count as multiple apps?
i thought the whole purpose of 3bm is one that the bureau's think it's one app!?

Here's a new one I never knew, I put my husband on as a AU on the United Mileage Plus  and he couldn't get approved for a card himself. When I called and asked why he wasnt approved they said it was because he is an AU on my card
it CAN be done!

How did they know that he is an AU on your card? AFAIK Chase dosen't associate a SSN with an AU, only with a Joint Owner...

I frozen my EXP and EQ so Chase would pull TU and I did a 2BM. Both cards got pending and I called recon and they said I needed to wait until they pulled my TU.

I got a notification this morning on Citi Monitor saying that one new inquiry showed up on my TU yesterday. Does that mean that the 2BM worked and I only got 1 pull? Both apps still say "being reviewed" when I call the application status number.

Do I just wait now until I get a decision and it stops saying "being reviewed" ?

I got my rejection letter from Chase two weeks ago.  I called the application status hotline about 4 days after I got the letter,  just out of curiosity.  It still said my app was "being reviewed".  My advice is to call recon.
