PS: If the reason you were declined on a 5/24 card is 5/24, and you are indeed 5/24, YOU WILL NOT GET APPROVED.

Just did a 3bm and was instantly approved for BA and SW but not Freedom. I have a Freedom open, but right now it's my oldest card on my credit history so I don't want to close it.
Any ideas what I can tell recon to help push through a second one while keeping the first open?

Try the Master/Visa scenario

They have heard that a lot recently they refused to budge when I called. But that was with business recon, perhaps personal is different.

Sure you can, it might take some elbow grease though.

You could even get it approved for the same company.

As part of a mini AOR, I applied for SP and Slate.  Neither approved on the spot.   I got 7-10 days on one, 2 weeks on the other.  I called with my social - I wasn't near my computer, and forgot to copy down the reference # to bring with me for the call.  He saw both apps.  I was turned down for 'redent delinquency' - I missed a payment on a new card approx 4 months ago -  and 'too mayn new apps'.
So I asked if there was something we could do to get the slate approved.  He went to check my info.  He came back that I have a long history with Chase and he can move 8K from my freedom (20k CL)  to open the slate.  I countered that we could even move 10K and I'd have 10 on each.  He went away and said he could move 5K each to open the slate AND the SP, if I want.  I said, yes, thank you!

Wiki says 7-10 days means declined.

I got it and called recon, recon rep said I was declined, then said wait, looks like a verification issue. Got someone from ver. on the line and turns out they wanted to confirm a new address. Got approved on the spot.

3BM/Chase Sapphire Preferred and Freedom Recon?
« Reply #5815 on: June 30, 2014, 05:16:01 PM »
Hey Guys, New to all this, but trying to get a foot in the door.

I just did a 3BM to try and get both of these and the Citibank AA 100K. Didn't get instant approval for any aside from the AA card (after I called in to verify info) (Nice credit line too, 20K). Read some of the notes on chase recon and called the number for chase recon to check the status, one says 7-10 days and one says 2 weeks, so I assume one is declined and one is pending.

2 questions:

1. How can I tell which is which?

2. Should I keep HUAC to see if they can approve me now for these?

I have 2 card with them now, a mileage plus explorer card which they rolled me over to from the continental card from maybe 6-8 years ago, and an amazon card. Both are in good standing, I usually pay the whole balance every month. My payments are due mid-month though and today I have a combined total 4K bill between both out of a total credit line on both of over 20k.

Any tips?
Ross

Thanks for the advice guys. I called up, got a very nice guy on the phone. They had already approved me for the sapphire preferred and the freedom was pending because they saw both applications come in at the same time which they felt was strange, so after I spoke with them and they verified my information they approved that one too. Lower limit than the sapphire though, but still, can't complain.

Recon has really tightened the leash on their representatives. I have HUCAd many times now to push through a Sapphire after getting approved for a Freedom and United in a 3bm but to no avail. they keep repeating the same BS about not being able to approve more than 2 cards in 30 days >:(. I told them that my spouse was approved for all 3 to which they applies "that must have been a fluke". ANY ADVICE???

Try calling first thing in the morning. Its easier when they are fresh on their shift. I got a guy who was just starting at around 3:30EST and it worked great. Also ask them if you can move over lines from another card. They wont do it from the united but will from any other card.
