Applying for more than 1 credit card with Amex can result in the 2nd card app getting held for days. This does not apply to charge cards.

The downside of that is a possible 2nd credit pull, though YMMV.
Yes charge cards

Can result in a 2nd pull. Other way is to apply for 1 credit card and as many charge cards as you'd like.

Its been getting tougher for awhile already. You can't get any approvals or just the 3rd one ?
Cant get any. I have only 2 open Chase cards and I lowered the credit lines to try and get automatic approval, but to no avail. I called reconsideration they say to many cards opened in the past 12 months. So closing cards or moving credit not an option. Each rep just repeats the same thing....I agree with the previous rep you spoke with.....DENIED!

The only option I see is to wait longer between AOR, more than 3 months.

Whats the consensus here, how many cards can you open with Chase in one year and get approved for more?

There doesn't seem to be a consensus. Some churn heavily, others have trouble getting more than 7-8. There's probably more factoring in than just number of cards.

Probably also depends how good you are at HUCAing
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

That's certainly a big factor.

i already hucad 6 times for a freedom and spoke to the same rep twice i think because its sunday. they are getting annoyed  at me. problem is limited credit history. should i bother calling again tomorrow? and should i try applying for spg and blue cash?
when i had them getting annoyed at me i just said i really want to get that card because... for freedom you can say 5% bonus categories
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

How well does the "I really want" line work for you ? (If you opened lots of cards that year)

For a noob it's a great answer why you are HUCAing

I'm not understanding the lowered the credit lines part... Did you offer to lower before applying? I don't see the strategy in that... I have heard of using credit line and transferring CL from old card to new one so the recon rep isn't adding to Chase's liability...
I called reconsideration they say to many cards opened in the past 12 months. So closing cards or moving credit not an option. Each rep just repeats the same thing....I agree with the previous rep you spoke with.....DENIED!
If you happen to have a balance on the old Chase cc's currently, you may want to pay off in full and then HUCA, (you have a month since last denial to try again)
The only option I see is to wait longer between AOR, more than 3 months.
I would most definitely wait more than 3 months, especially if you don't have a long credit history with a very high credit score...
Whats the consensus here, how many cards can you open with Chase in one year and get approved for more?
Ummm, YMMV...

You call before to lower your CL.
The strategy is that now since you don't have a lot of credit with the bank they will have less of an issue giving you another card automatically.
The problem with just having the credit and trying to transfer to open more cards is that the reconsideration dep might not want to open another card for you, even though they are not issuing you more credit.

Has this strategy been successful for anyone? I can see cancelling a card as being helpful - if ones credit score is very high - if one has multiple cards with Chase and a low limit on one that isn't used anyways, but still can prob be done during recon if needed...
My understanding is that they look at how much is owed on each card. As far as credit line generally the higher the credit line the better the credit score. As far as using previous app and credit pull, paying down Chase cards will help for future HUCA's...
The problem with just having the credit and trying to transfer to open more cards is that the reconsideration dep might not want to open another card for you, even though they are not issuing you more credit.
They might not want to, but they might (or the next rep might)
