3. Does this mean I am banned from chase for life?
If you were banned for life they would probably shut all your accounts.

Got approved for 2 co-branded cards today.  Previously had 8 new chase cards in past 2 years and 32 overall although some were biz or backdated amex.  Not a peep from the recon reps.

It's not relevant where the bank pulls from, the cards are reported to all 3 bureaus, so if you want them removed you'd have to dispute the account on all 3 reports (which by the way, can be done online, no need to call as others have suggested).

First remove and then dispute, correct? What if the primary closed the account--can the AU dispute those as well?

You dispute to have it removed

Whoever has an au on their credit report should dispute it regardless of the AH
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

AH?

Regardless of whether banks are supposed to report AUs to the agencies or not, they are indeed reported to most bureaus.

I just removed my DW as AU on my SPG--the card is still open--but if the card is already closed and the AU is still listed, does that change the equation?

I got declined today for both the freedom and the United mileage plus explorer card.

When I called Recon they said they don't know the exact reason for decline other than that its a business decision made by lending services and they cant disclose why I was declined, something to do with history of some sort with chase, they also said that they didn't pull my credit report.

My credit is squeaky clean and mind you I currently have about 30k total in credit from chase with pretty low balances on all cards(ba, sp, slate, ink plus. every bill is paid on time with them, only once they shut down one of my ink cards earlier in the year because they suspected I violated their t&c regarding my UR.

They wouldn't give me a reason for declining both cards and said I have to write and send a letter to credit correspondence.

1. has anyone ever had such a thing happen to them before?
2. what is there for me to do?
3. Does this mean I am banned from chase for life?
4. could it be that because I put on an authorized user on to my app who may have a bad history with chase that that is what has impacted this?
5. if I should be sending a letter what should I write? and what type of answer should I expect?

TIA

Didn't she already approve you?
She has recommended approval . Happened to me once and next dept followed suit and approved .
FYI- I just called back and still in review- takes 3-5 business days. But, I had a nice chat and according to this rep- your 30 day window restarts when a lender reviews your app- so even if they had declined me (again) I would have had another 30 days. (thought I saw a discussion about this in the past)

Btw DOC initially posted about this over 2 weeks ago, and wrote up a detailed post on this one week ago. Don't know why you read MMS but not DOC :o
