PS: If the reason you were declined on a 5/24 card is 5/24, and you are indeed 5/24, YOU WILL NOT GET APPROVED.

Btw DOC initially posted about this over 2 weeks ago, and wrote up a detailed post on this one week ago. Don't know why you read MMS but not DOC :o
And this was talked about in the chase reconsideration thread for the past two weeks.

Plenty of comments there that this isn't a hard and fast rule.

Have you had recent success?  If so, which cards?

At the very least it will make things much harder.

I'm guessing a multiple browser application won't circumvent this.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Yes I am terribly sorry for cross posting, please forgive me chotosi avisi poshati...
but I couldn't get answer from anyone in the chase recon thread, I will try here because I think that this might actually be the reason for me being denied for the United card, if anyone can tell me their thoughts or insight on the below, I would greatly appreciate it very much. TIA

I got declined today for both the freedom and the United mileage plus explorer card.

When I called Recon they said they don't know the exact reason for decline other than that its a business decision made by lending services and they cant disclose why I was declined, something to do with history of some sort with chase, they also said that they didn't attempt to pull my credit report.

My credit is squeaky clean and mind you I currently have about 30k total in credit from chase with pretty low balances on all cards(ba, sp, slate, ink plus. every bill is paid on time with them, only once they shut down one of my ink cards earlier in the year because they suspected I violated their t&c regarding my UR.

They wouldn't give me a reason for declining both cards and said I have to write and send a letter to credit correspondence.

1. has anyone ever had such a thing happen to them before?
2. what is there for me to do?
3. Does this mean I am banned from chase for life?
4. could it be that because I put on an authorized user on to my app who may have a bad history with chase that that is what has impacted this?
5. if I should be sending a letter what should I write? and what type of answer should I expect?

An aquantance of mine in JP Morgan/Chase legal dept told me this has been in the works for a while bc they are trying to phase out certain cards. So I guess limiting applications per person is the first step

This only applies to UR earning cards. So  this is not the reason for your denial of the united card.

what else can it be? spanking clean credit good history with chase as well, low balances, and they didnt even pull my report!!
they said something previous not good with them or one of their affiliates...but they cant disclose what it is and that I would need to write in.

Well they did shut down one of your ink cards. That could have left a bad remark on your account.

Plenty of comments there that this isn't a hard and fast rule.
Plenty? AFAIR there are only two people in the comments who possibly got approved for a Chase branded card despite the 5 card rule, and it's very possible that they didn't have 5 new accounts posted to their credit report when they applied. Anyway DOC says that it's still doable through a banker at your local Chase with 10k in an account, so there is still hope.

so I guess this would mean I am banned from getting any more chase cards forever?!? they said "its been declined due to previous unsatisfactory relationship with chase or one of our affiliates." and the only thing they suggest is that I write in.

If this stops people from applying because they are worried the end result will be better for all of us  ;)

Just got a couple of chase SW cards in my wife's AOR and had no issues getting them approved.

The article is more about UR cards.
