I applied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Card and Hyatt at the same time and got denied for both because of too many recent credit requests. Got the Hyatt reconsidered and approved but when I called back for the Sapphire they said it went to archives (called a month after denial) so I have to reapply and call back when I get denied. Now I want to apple fort the AmEx Starwood 30k bonus and the Sapphire. How should I do this? Should I freeze Experian?

Should I freeze Experian?

That ain't gonna work. AFAIK, AMEX cannot be compelled to check TU or Equifax.

Last week I applied for the southwest, united (which i have had before once), and sapphire cards in multiple browsers and got only one pull (yayy!!). When i did it i knew i most probably would not get approved but i was really in the mood of trying. Low and behold today i got rejected for the united and southwest cards. I called and reached a jerk names shawn (sean?) and he told me there was nothing that he could do since i opened a CO and BA card with them in may. I called back a few moments later and reached "ashley" who was more than happy to move some credit over from my freedom card and open up the southwest card for me. Two minutes later i called again and got the united approved also!!!
Moral of the story: don't give up or be discouraged after the first try

p.s. I didnt hear from them about my sapphire card yet, but if i get rejected i'm not sure if it would be a good idea to call them again because they might see the other two cards that just got approved and get mad. What do you guys think?

I think you should've tried to get the Sapphire approved first (assuming you're referring to the Sapphire preferred). If not, spend $1 on the SouthWest card and get it pushed through, then in 25 days or so (after your Sapphire bonus hopefully posts), try to get it closed and the CL line transferred to your Sapphire.

Data point did the 3 browser method with chase hyatt sapphire and freedom go declined all 3 due to just opening a card? anyways calles them up and they transferred 5000 from a dif card and approved for the sapphire. was told that they cannot help with the other ones. received the sapphire card then called and tried to get the other 2 approved got put on hold and then the rep came back on and started asking all kinds of ? about why i wanted the cards, and why i had closed the ba card in less then a year from when i opened it, and if i planned on keeping these new cards open or if i planned on closing them!? i assured her that of course i want to keep these cards open forever because chase is the best ;). She then placed me on hold again and 5 minutes later Viola! approved for 2 more cards! so if at 1st you dont succeed .... :)

I have an eight thousand dollar credit line (1500 BA, 1500 freedom, 5000 Sapphire,)  and have two cards which I did not pull through yet, (Continental and Hyatt). What to ask from recon?

1. Take some of the sapphire line? (will they agree to that?)
2. Take some of the Freedom and BA (or all, as I don't need them) and add a little to my credit line?

Thanks!!

That wasn't the question, but I guess it can't hurt to just try calling.

I did a double app for CO and MP cards for my wife. She already had the Sapphire card.

I got declined for both.

I called two weeks ago, and managed to get them to approve the CO. But they refused to approve the MP card. The first time it was because "it is too similar to the CO card" and the second time it was because "too many cards open with Chase and with other companies".

When I did call the second time, the guy very blatantly asked me why I need the MP card. I scrambled to find an excuse and said something like "I like to keep my expenses separate...". It didn't fly.

Anyone have a good solid excuse why I need to have the MP card even though I have the CO card? It would be greatly appreciated.

P.S.

Excuses that I can think of:

  • The CO is Mastercard and the MP is Visa, and some places won't accept Visa or MC
  • The CO will only give free luggage on CO, but not on United (Is this true?)
