I applied recently for a Chase Sapphire as part of a AOR (this was the only Chase card). I got declined because of 'Too many credit cards opened in the last 2 years'

I called recon and requested they shuffle around some limits but she said that this type of decline is not able to be reconsidered. This was a new directive from Risk Management within the last 60 days. I asked what constitutes 'Too many' and she said anything more than 5 and according to her I had 6. I actually had way more then that so I'm not sure exactly where this number is from.

Anyone else had this? Any way around it?
Everybody's been having this lately. They even consider au's on your cr as new accounts.

So, Chase is locking down on UR and partner cards - this is now SOP?? Yikes and YUCK! Would HUCA help, or since it is all written down it is not worth the aggravation?

HUCA will not help IME. They don't have the ability to reconsider from what I understand

I called, and it was declined "due to a previous unsatisfactory relationship with the bank". Huh? Worth a HUCA? I doubt it.
Always worth a (many) HUCA, I had similar situation and got approved after many a HUCA.

I'd never heard of this 5/24 rule applying for partner cards as well as UR cards either... If that's true then it's bad, very bad.

Amex/Citi/Cap1/and others did not care. I am SMALL fry compared to many here guys. This is a drop in the bucket. FT monsters are at 70 for a year, if we can handle the credit - who cares.

The Wiki talks about messages of 7-10 days and 2 weeks. What does it mean when the message says "you will be notified in 30 days"? Is that pending or declined?

Apologies if this has been covered, I applied for csp, ink plus, chase hyatt, and chase BA last night. The CSP was approved right away. The others showed application pending in the browser, no ref # or anything. I called biz recon and personal recon and the only application they see is the approved CSP. Any thoughts?

Upon calling recon for the Ritz Carlton they told me that because I've had five accounts opened within the past twelve months, there's no way they can open a new account, even when I asked to transfer from a different line of credit. I even offered to cancel a different account (which usually works with Amex) and they said it wouldn't help, because they can't open a new account. New era with Chase, or do I HUCA?

Looks like the apps really didn't go through, was able to get csp, chase BA, chase hyatt all approved. Reconsideration has recommended approval of ink plus but needs to go to higher level of approval and i will hear within two weeks. Any thoughts on likelihood of ink plus approval?

You resubmitted the apps & they were instantly approved ? I'd be surprised if the ink gets approved. 4 chase approvals has got to be very rare.
