People will disagree with me but I would call. I called when my app went pending because I was able to explain the business. Happened to be that the first rep was a total shmuck so he declined me but once I called back and explained everything to a rational rep, he resubmitted it for approval.
Whats the advantage of not calling? If its pending someone will have to look at it I assume so why not have them review while I'm on the line?

How do you know someone looks at it once it's pending?

If its something a computer does it would be done at the time of applying.
I'm making assumptions but logical ones, I think.

They've been going through system upgrades, though it should've been completed already.

Will a lack of available personal credit effect business cards?
Can credit be allocated from personal to business?

Well, recon offices are closed now for some reason.

They closed the phones at 5 because of the huge volume of applications they were dealing with.

That's what a specialist I got through to told me last night.

Which card/s ?

British and Marriott.

I think his name was Michael, he tells me "I see you had the same British card 2 years ago, I'm just wondering why you would be needing this card again, is it for the points?"

Why not just bang the phone on these reps? They do much more than the job requires them to do...

Yes it has been.

He also was telling me about all of my applications over the last 2 years, and asking sweetly, "I am just wondering what your thought process is about applying for cards".

You'll just have to use your charm & convince them of why you need all these cards.

I finally got him to close an older card and approve the marriott, saying that for business I began staying there and would like the perks of the card. I don't know why he didn't see my old Marriott that I cancelled a while back ;)

You'll just have to use your charm & convince them of why you need all these cards.
Charm doesn't always work with some of these guys.
When I recently reconed for my UA biz card, the guy asked me why do you have so many accounts.
I start explaining to the guy, that I travel a lot, and I utilize the diff. statuses with airlines, and hotel programs.
As I'm talking, the guy cuts me off, and says " oh, so you open cards for the sign up promotions ".
I then reiterated that, that's not what I said, and he again cuts me off, saying the same thing.
Now obviously he happens to be right, but it feels like some of these reps. have no real interest in helping you, and want to just get rid of you asap.
Life is as good as you make it...

With business cards you can explain easier why you need different cards.. different businesses/charges etc.
Personal cards are harder.. Also IME you need lots of luck. If 1 or 2 reps are in a pissy mood the next reps look into the notes.. I have once reconed 17 times.. didnt get approved in the end.. I gave up after 17 tries.. was already meshuga

When I call recon I first listen to the tone of voice the rep answers the phone... If I don't like it I just hang up... It can take me over 5 calls till someone answers with a cheerful tone :)
