PS: If the reason you were declined on a 5/24 card is 5/24, and you are indeed 5/24, YOU WILL NOT GET APPROVED.

anyone find that hold times with chase recon have been significantly longer recently ? Used to get thru within a min or two in the morning, the last few weeks it has been at least 10 min hold time.

I would most definitely not rely on the wiki. I had 2 of those 3 weeks ago. Both were pending. Both were approved after calling. They had not been declined.
If you're getting the 7-10 day message when you call automated system for status, that means declined.
So just got off the phone with recon. First guy I spoke too, after a few questions approved me for the United card but then said he can't approve me for the Marriott card Bec I can't get more then 2 cards in 30 days. So HUCA spoke to a nice lady who gave me a speech how I have to many cards on my credit report and chase can't approve me but after speaking with her for a couple more minutes and explaining reasons for the chase cards I have, she was able to put through approval. So all in all got approved for both! Yay ;D

Recon over SM? I seriously don't get that

Worked for me in the past, and easier than dealing with the Chase Biz reps.  Tried again on Marriott Biz card and got a "no."  Will have to call ...

I applied for the Fairmont and Hyatt cards, both applications on pending now. I called recon and they said it has to go to another department for approval and I just have to wait it out. Best answer I got from them was to call back on Friday to see if anything's changed....

If it gets approved, the status line will say it. Though IME, when they recommend for approval, I had to call back a few days later to get it pushed through for official approval.
Data point.. I had a recent BA "recommended for approval." I did nothing after that call. It was declined.

It seems this is happening with all chase cards lately. Did anyone successfully churn a chase card within 24 month recently?

Does the 24 month clock go from the bonus post date or card approval date?

I called recon about an ink and she asked me a million questions and said that she recommended me for approval but needs one final approval and they will let me know in 1-2 weeks. is that good or should I try calling again?
UPDATE: I called today as advised on this forum and the rep said it is awaiting approval, I HUCAd and got a nice lady who told me the same thing. I asked if there was any way to expedite it and she said she will see, she came back after 10 minutes and got it approved!!! (was denied for SP for 5/24 for those keeping track)

Then I had her transfer me to customer service who was able to get me the card rushed

The fellow told me the date I applied as well as the date of the bonus. He seemed to be indicating that the date of the bonus is what counts.

So who was it that volunteered to call for $25 if approved? :-). Hubs CSP is being reviewed. Got the 7-10 day message. He applied for it before Hyatt (which was approved).

Applied for Ink+ on 3/16, sat tight till today. Status changed to 7-10 and hence called, was told turned down on 3/28 for opening too many recent accounts. Opened 7 accounts in July. She asked why have I opened 7 accounts in one month.  >:( And that I have enough credit to 'separate expenses'.  >:( Didnt feel like putting up a fight.

Have 5 current personal cards with Chase. No business. Thought I will try luck before the dreaded 5/24 starts applying.

Might call once more to see if anything changes, but I cannot really come up with an argument against too many accounts :(

Oh yeah, $25 for who helps with the a recon call  :)

What's the best bet to do for someone who applied for a chase freedom as his first card and been declined saying not enough account revolving history (he has a checkng/savings in td bank) and making a bit more then 50k as he's only 18yrs old,so is there any hope speaking to a rep for recon? Or is there a specific thing that shld be told to the rep to get him approved? Or its bec of his age or since he doesn't have a chase accnt?
