PS: If the reason you were declined on a 5/24 card is 5/24, and you are indeed 5/24, YOU WILL NOT GET APPROVED.

LOL. Nothing in there contradicts anything I've ever posted here. I never, ever suggested someone should quit after one call.
Great then we agree, keep calling after getting told there's nothing they can do even if the chances aren't extremely high that you'll get approved.  :)

First rep reviews the app, tells me I'm denied, nothing she can do. Call again, review the app, approved. This whole scenario happened twice already to me over the past week, nothing to do with making my case better to the second rep. If you don't want to go through the hassle of calling back after the first reported tells you there's nothing they can do then fine, but don't presume to say that calling again after you made your case already won't work. I'm not saying that after a few times your chances are high but it's still possible to get approved even after 3, 5, even 12 calls according to one DP. Nobody said there's anything magical about any number call, it's about lacking out and getting the right rep. Sometimes that happens quickly, sometimes it may take a while.

this is totally accurate from my experience as well. making the right argument counts for something for sure, but getting the right rep is really what matters in most cases.

I've had several instances where the clarity and quality of my argument clearly worsened in the later HUCAs due to frustration or other factors, but the HUCA was successful because i got a lenient rep.

That's essentially what I said to the lady in question last week, yet you and some others went nuts.

Actually you said to go get some other credit somewhere else and then try again later because there was no way she was gonna get approved when I was saying that it's still possible to get approved so don't stop calling.

Nope. I said getting a $10,000+ credit line elsewhere was more likely to be successful than recon call #5 or #10, especially after she mentioned that she had sort of boxed herself in with the recon reps, who were referring to notes on the app. I never insisted she should stop calling.

True, filling out the credit history will definitely help getting approvals in the future, the point was not to give up now just because the reps are giving you a hard time, it's still possible someone can push it through.

Sure. Again, for about the tenth time, I never said it was impossible succeed on recon call #5 or #10.

What percent chance of approval would you consider to make it worthwhile to call?

Everyone's time is valued differently. I sure as hell wouldn't go through 10 Chase recon grillings — as a first-time Chase customer — when I could simply apply for some other card and then try again with Chase a week or two later.

The person in question was supposedly at 0/24. It's not like this was an emergency.

Two week old cards in your report won't help you.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

For someone whose biggest credit flaw is that he has no cards in his own name above a $5,000 CL, they will.

No luck for CSR since 13/24 :(.  They offered me product change on a existing account should I do that?

Not unless you want the card without the sign up bonus.

Rep told me she is recommending approval, but they have to send it up for final approval. How long before I can call again to confirm it was actually approved?

Call again tomorrow and they'll tell you if they finished the review or not. It usually only takes 1-2 days.
