PS: If the reason you were declined on a 5/24 card is 5/24, and you are indeed 5/24, YOU WILL NOT GET APPROVED.

especially if you are your own AU that one will not count since its a double and for the other one say that you are not financially responsible for those cards
I finally called (on a day when I could speak to a supervisor, which ended up not being necessary). She pulled up the app, said it was a 5/24 problem (without using those words) I said 2 were AU's she pulled up the CR, saw I was right, asked if I was responsible or made payments on those accounts, I said no. She had the app reviewed, and after shifting some credit to meet the minimum CL my app for the Chase Sapphire was approved! HUCA FTW.

I called and was told I was at 5/24.
I told him that 2 were AUs.
He pulled the report and said I was listed as a co-applicant, not an AU and no way he could approve me.
Anyone ever hear of being classified as a co-applicant instead of an AU?

I just applied for the Hyatt card and got denied. The rep told me because I had this same card within the past 24 months. I know this has been a rule in place for years although I have never encountered this being an issue. Has anyone had this issue with a chase card not even part of 5/24?

just called the application status line and was told 'you will be informed of our decision in writing within 30 days'. I haven't seen a quote like this mentioned in the wiki. Any ideas of some hidden meaning?
were you approved?

A friend of mine recently moved to the US and has credit history of around a year.. They applied for Chase United explorer CC but got declined and the letter states not enough accounts open or enough credit history duration... Is there any hope on reconsideration and on what basis ?

I would definitely go for recon. Might even take a few calls, it's always that first card to get they make trouble for some, even if your going to get turned down on the first shot, try again and be positive about his income and.... good luck!

Right away, doesn't matter at all.
